Notes on How to Find Fines on SEC’s EDGAR Database
Search the Company:
Visit EDGAR Company Search.
Enter the company name, ticker symbol, or CIK number.
Look for Enforcement Filings:
Search for Forms 8-K or 10-K under “Legal Proceedings.”
Fines often appear as a disclosure in these filings.
Example: "The SEC imposed a $5 million penalty related to accounting irregularities."
Advanced Keyword Search:
Use EDGAR’s full-text search to look for keywords like “penalty,” “fine,” “settlement,” or “consent decree.”
