Key Information to Look for on Marketplace Websites
1. Investigating the NFT Owner
Marketplace Account Details: If the owner has an account on the marketplace, check for:
Username (not visible in blockchain data)
Profile photo
Date joined
Links to social media accounts (Twitter, Discord, etc.)
Social Media Leads: Even if an owner does not list social media on their marketplace profile, they may engage in community groups, making it possible to track them through NFT collection pages or social media interactions.
2. Investigating the NFT
NFT Collection Page: This often includes:
Official website
Social media links
Links to community groups where owners interact (Twitter, Discord, Telegram, etc.)
Hidden Social Media Clues: Owners trying to remain anonymous may still engage with official NFT project accounts or community groups under different names.
3. Investigating Transaction History & Network Connections
Interaction with Other Users: By checking the marketplace profile, you can see:
Other buyers, sellers, and bidders the target has interacted with.
Potential linked social media accounts of those users.
Back-and-forth messaging or engagements that may reveal more details.
Using Blockchain Explorers: On Etherscan, clicking an NFT’s image brings up a profile page. Clicking its Token ID redirects to the Token Tracker Page, filtering information for that NFT.
4. Finding an Owner’s Marketplace Accounts
Searching by Wallet Address: OpenSea allows wallet searches, but other marketplaces may not.
Multiple Accounts Across Marketplaces: Owners may have different accounts on OpenSea, Rarible, Foundation, etc.
Finding the Correct Marketplace:
Look at an NFT’s transfer history, which may show a contract for a specific marketplace.
On Etherscan, clicking the NFT image may show a marketplace listing in the top-right corner.
A pop-up may indicate if the NFT was created with a contract tied to a specific marketplace.
5. Limitations in NFT Owner Searches
Marketplace Restrictions: Not all marketplace sites allow searching by NFT or wallet address.
Varying Visibility: Some users may have multiple or hidden accounts across different NFT platforms.
